Saturday noon I'm alone in your bed You open the curtains and you're barely dressed We like to be lazy, we like making plans And sometimes we do things we wanna do again They can leave us out They can turn us down But they can't take this away They can leave us out They can turn us down But they can't take this away Keeping a distance is hard when you're close I’m not addicted but I need your daily dose You don't want to tease me but you do it so well Observing is easy but resisting is hell They can leave us out They can turn us down But they can't take this away They can leave us out They can turn us down But they can't take this away They can leave us out They can turn us down But they can't take this away They can leave us out They can turn us down But they can't take this away

Couch 02:28
We need a plan to undertake The way to gain the shortest break We do the things we'll do again I gave you all had in mind Even your selfishness is mine Is it right if no one thinks it's wrong? We care a lot and that is fine If only we could find some time What's the point if people carry on? Wonder what it is that makes me start When we feel low We catch and throw 'til all pillows hit the floor Your favourite seat Please let it be On my couch On my couch Your confessions make me cry Your phone call's a surprise Closer to the one I want to meet Happiness is creeping upon me We talk as we ride Your voice sounds alright When we feel low We catch and throw ‘til all pillows hit the floor Your favourite seat Please let it be On my couch On my couch When we feel low We catch and throw ‘til all pillows hit the floor Your favourite seat Please let it be On my couch On my couch I follow you until you’re done I won’t give up until you stop

I will show how I forgot something you won't And many of my friends have pointed out what I ignored The limits are endless and that is why I failed to stay True to my name I got an entertaining job and compliments for free But underneath the surface there's a lost priority I never took advantage of the restlessness I saved I couldn't wait We're covering the past With all the classic tricks Do it while it lasts But save a little bit For the days we care about You are cool but out of reach for guys like me Girls like you are not supposed to drop reality Every disappointment reminds you of your needs You're incomplete All our arguments remind me of the days My first visit was considered as a waste Now we are friends and it is still kind of new What I mean to you We're covering the past With all the classic tricks Do it while it lasts But save a little bit For the days we care about Seven minus seven brings me back where I began Twelve is a bonus I can roll my dice again If you're scared of secrets I will tell you what I know And what they don’t
4.
Hazy 04:18
I don’t take offence First I’ll check the evidence The grim attack on common sense Has made me step back Over many years I quietly settled in a maze The air is thin but I don’t faint Still I can’t escape Sometimes I’m hazy On what’s on my mind Reflection needs time and the casual rewind Take or leave it But don’t leave for good Please only erase all that’s misunderstood Here is one more case Of a chance I blew again Another fight I feared to face I’m up for a change Someday I will start To lift my head and pump my heart I’ll scrape the rust and blow the fog Away from it all Sometimes I’m hazy On what’s on my mind Reflection needs time and the casual rewind Take or leave it But don’t leave for good Please only erase all that’s misunderstood I thought I was easy But I scared all my friends And patience is spent on impossible demands Take it or leave it But don’t leave for good I did what I could The outcome is poor but I keep hoping for more

I am learning all my roles Though I’m tired and quite old But the clock always shows there is time I’ll be patient when you’re slow Dedicated when you’re low Entertaining when you’re bored Least I’ll try Well I’ve been lucky all my life But often felt the same Now it’s up to me to sort my options out And pick a mindset that will suit the day I am learning all my roles To be on standby in every mode If you call me indecisive, you’re right I’ll adapt to every goal Be sincere or rather cold My emotions in control or denied Well I’ve been lucky all my life But slightly off the rails I apologise for times I was awake But slowly drifted off into my haze So I am learning all my roles Though I’m tired and quite old But the clock always shows there is time

about

Recast is the second volume of our Outtakes.

Where the songs on 'Traces - Outtakes Vol.1' were once part of the track list of ‘The Advice to Travel Light’, but for a variety of reasons never made it onto the album. This second EP ‘Recast - Outtakes Vol. 2’ embraces songs from far before "The Advice to Travel Light", which did not find their right place on an album but, according to frontman and writer Pieter Van Dessel, still deserve a release.

"Recast is an anagram of Traces," he explains. "Besides that, the name says it all: these songs were once given a place, but today they are "recast" in a new context." In short: ‘Recast’ is where you can find the really old(er) work.

This EP is the B-side of our Record Store Day 'Traces/Recast' LP released on June 19th 2020 on solid white vinyl. The LP has two exclusive extra tracks that won't be available digitally.
